Rumour Week

Last week of the month usually means we're waiting (im)patiently for the next group of referrals from China Centre of Adoption Affairs (CCAA). This means checking the "Rumor Queen" website more than our usual once daily, to see when the next 'cutoff' date will be. Oh it makes for a looong, tumultuous, sometimes emotional and always suspenseful week. I really felt a tug today when thinking about it, realizing that very soon we could potentially be in the next group, not knowing for sure whether we'll make the cutoff or have to wait an extra month. It's getting closer...

There's been a terrible earthquake in Sichuan this month. Despite the tens of thousands of fatalities, it seems there were no injuries in the 40 orphanages which were reported upon. This will however delay parents who have already received referrals from there, and who hadn't yet travelled to reunite with their little one. Very sad. Even sadder is all that has been lost to the people of Sichuan. Our hearts go out to them.

We brought Josee's crib home (thanks Jo!). A big step, an acknowledgement that it may be safe for us to do so. Besides, I wanted to see how much real estate it will take in the nursery (which itself has been ready for 2 years now). We haven't set it up yet; that would be too big a leap, but the time will come.

We're going camping a lot this summer, making the very best of this wait time (and freedom!), and looking forward to the time when we can share this favourite of our pastimes with Savannah! We'll be going with Josee and Mike, Vanessa and David, and will get to meet Tracey and Keewadin and their boys. That should be a blast! And to the cottage with Joanne and Franco and their 4 awesome kids. It'll all be time well spent!
