Our Petite Coccinelle- Gotcha!
Savannah's 1st Hallowe'en in Canada was pretty neat. At the tail end of a nasty bout with H1N1 'flu (or as I sometimes call it, the effing plague), she was well enough to go get some delicious loot at a few houses. She looked positively adorable in her coccinelle outfit, and she KNEW it! She lilted and danced and bounced and twirled in it. What a card!
Can't believe it's been a year since Gotcha Day! Wow! Time sure flies a lot faster on this side of the referral, that's for sure! Savannah has really thrived in this time, and continues to amaze us with her new tricks; she's started saying 2 word sentences last week, and I found a long pencil scribble-line on my kitchen cabinets today! Hmmm! Lots of fun!

One Year Ago...
Hard to believe that 1 year ago today, we first saw Savannah's photo. When we awoke that morning, we didn't know if she'd even be a girl, how old, where from, or how totally cute! It feels like forever ago, a lifetime ago! How she's grown, and how she's brought such bright cheerful sunshine (that's the definition of her Chinese names) to our family. We're grateful!

Summer Fun
Dancing queen...
Best buddies, sharing a popsicle...
With Grand Maman and Grand Papa at Big Oak Park...
Sliders' dream...
Pensive princess...
Savannah loves going 'dehors', playing in the grass, on her swing and slide set, putting rocks into the red bucket Nana Carolyn and Papa Dave bought her, swimming in the lake, and going for wagon rides. She chats up a storm, and says over 70 words. She certainly runs the show, and knows how to get people to do what she wants. Hmmm! Good thing she's so sweet!

Happy Camper
Savannah just loved her first camping trip, as did we! Despite some rain, hail, and even snow, she enjoyed the whole thing, sleeping well in her meshed-in bunk, and seeing squirrels, ducks and chasing a partridge. She sampled dandelions (mmm!), dipped her foot in the lake (brrr! and a few tears), and went on miles of stroller rides. On the weekend, Christy and Tessa visited, prompting even more laughs and fun!

Love my Shoes
Savannah, or 'Sasa' as she calls herself, just loves her shoes. More often than not, we find her with one shoe on her foot, the other in her hand, or beside her in her bed. And she loves to untie the velcros, then retie them in an "x". Go figure. Not even 15 months old and already setting her own style. And yes, Tracey, we've already talked to her about the joys of camping, and we look forward to seeing you guys at Fairbank!

Every Day is Fun!
Even a trip to the grocery store is fun when Rick and Savannah are involved (a saintly Rick let me take photos for my photography course assignment. We went to a store undergoing renovations thinking it wouldn't be too busy, and I wouldn't look like a goofy tourist taking photos there. Alas, not 30 seconds into it, Rick saw someone he knew! Ha!)

Birthday Girl a.k.a. Hello Toddlerhood!
Well, Savannah's going to be a year old in a few days, and we've celebrated her very first birthday with a spaghetti dinner for close friends and family yesterday. What a blast! Grandmaman had made her a cool matching "I'm #1" banner and bib, and we decorated a dozen ladybug cupcakes in bright rainbow colours, as well as a butterfly cake for grande cousine Vanessa, who herself celebrated her lucky seventh birthday. The younger Morrises, Coutus and Tignanellis played party games, led by Jenna, and all got prizes and treats. Savannah totally enjoyed her red ladybug cupcake, tentatively sticking one little finger into it first, and then digging right in. She made the day! As usual, she was loads of fun, and in such a happy mood. Our bright cheerful sunshine!

1st Christmas
Savannah's 1st Christmas was awesome, and we all feel so privileged to have been able to share it with her. She had fun ripping paper and pulling bows. She started opening gifts right after Christmas Eve mass, as is traditional for the French-Canadian"reveillon". Then, it was sleep time, so part deux took place the next day. She got spoiled, as did we! Thanks to all!
Today, we checked the mailbox, and got a great surprise: Savannah's Canadian Citizenship card! So it's official (again!). Yay Savannah, our little Chinese French-Canadian girl!
